The artistes

The love for jewelry Avraham Lor has inherited from his father, Yosef..

Yosef Lor was among the first students of Jerusalem's famed Bezalel Art School,     and when he graduated he opened a small shop in the center of Jerusalem at the time – Ben Yehuda Street no. 5. In 1996 the shop was renovated – after being in business for over seventy years.

Avraham Lor started his artistic way by making modern sculptural designs, made of copper, brass and alpaca for that were purchased by many of the leading families of Jerusalem. The reputation of the young, talented artist spread quickly and today, after 47 years of work, "Ophir Jewelry", headed by Avraham,, has become a Jerusalem institution.

Avraham's passion for jewels was naturally passed on to his son, Sefi. As soon as Sefi was discharged of military service, he's studied jewelry craftsmanship and joined the family business.

Slightly history

The jewelry store "Ophir" was founded in 1956 by Shula and Avraham Lor on 38, Jaffa Road and is considered one of the most unusual places for handcrafted jewelry, and antique objects in Jerusalem.

The store's name derives from the name of the biblical city where King Solomon's treasures came from.

The store's design

The store is located in an old stone building house in the city center, and is designed as a workshop which combines authentic wooden cabinets of the art-nouveau era. The old wooden cabinets are filled with a large variety of gold and silver hand designed rings, broaches, earrings, necklaces and pendants – many set with good stones.

In addition, you can find archeological items-- ancient coins and religious items.
